The Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Utah is the only ABET accredited Materials Science and Engineering program in the State of Utah.

We offer a comprehensive materials science and engineering curriculum, state of-the-art laboratory facilities and faculty with diverse research backgrounds. Our undergraduate program prepares students interested in advance degrees or working for high-tech industries.  Our graduate research program has strength with international recognition in focused areas of nano-energy materials as well as continuing the research for new materials in an ever changing world. The faculty and staff are dedicated to give our students a memorable and life-changing experience studying and researching the wonderful world of materials.
