Deadline: FALL: DECEMBER 15TH 
To ensure your application is received on time, please submit your University application, along with all supporting materials, at least a month prior to the application deadline. These are HARD deadlines, applications will not be considered past the deadline.


  • An undergraduate GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • A minimum GRE score of 300 between quantitative and verbal sections and a minimum score of 3.0 on the writing section.
  • TOEFL – A minimum of 570 on the written exam

Submission Requirements:

Make sure that you have read below for application requirements and upload all documents to Apply Yourself PRIOR to submitting your application.  DO NOT send paper copies, they will not be accepted or included.


***All Materials MUST be received by the application deadline for the semester you are applying to in order to be reviewed.***

The following items must be submitted on the online application.  Paper copies will not be accepted.

  • Personal Statement
  • Resume or Curriculum Vitae
  • Three (3) Letters of Recommendation
  • Application Fee ($15 USD fee for both PhD and Masters applicants)

Please make sure you include the following on your application

  • Area of Emphasis
  • Professor you wish to work with

The following items need to be sent directly to the International Admissions Office, Do not send these items to the Department:

  • TOEFL scores
  • 1st Page of Passport
  • Graduate Financial Statement
  • Official Transcripts

Additional Information


The GRE score must be current (taken within the last 5 years) for it to be accepted.  The Department requires applicants GRE score to be a minimum combined score of 300 on the quantitative and verbal sections; and a minimum score of 3.0 on the writing section.  Send your scores to School Code: 4853.


An official English language test score as follows*:

  1. 6.5 on the IELTS
  2. 80 on the TOEFL iBT
  3. 550 on the TOEFL pBT (paper-based)

*Test date must be within two years of admission for scores to be valid


A personal statement is required when you submit your Department application.  Please submit a brief personal statement (1-2 pages) describing the kind of professional and academic studies you hope to undertake and your goals for this degree.


Three (3) Letters of Recommendation are required for an application to be complete and must be submitted online.  On the ApplyYourself application there is a section for applicants to enter the names and email addresses of our recommenders.  They will receive an email with a username and password which will allow them to upload their letters to the application.  Academic Letters of Recommendation are preferred.


Unofficial transcripts may be uploaded in the ApplyYourself System.  If admitted to the University, official transcripts will be required and need to be sent to the Admissions Office.


International students cannot be accepted into the graduate program with non-matriculated status. This is an University policy. There are no exceptions.
